Eons ago, a lumpy clay-like material formed the base on which quartz crystal would eventually build to create this superlative piece. The quartz itself is pristine.
Bill Adams, of Earth Echoes Crystals, lives in Brazil in the winter. His business is crystals and he is a friendly sort, so he has some excellent contacts in the local mining scene. One day he was told he could find some extraordinary crystals in the tiny village of Paulista, should he wish to travel there. Off he went to Datas Township, and then on to Paulista actually nothing more than a cluster of 6 small homes surrounded with banana trees, sugar cane fields, and vegetable gardens at the foot of some low hills. (and probably named for the original settler, who came from Sao Paolo a city of about 15 million souls).
Here, in one of the houses, sparsely furnished, behind locked doors and closed shutters, came a great surprise. Laid out on the kitchen table was a large selection of quartz crystals too many and too fine to sort through individually. So finally, Bill simply drew a line down the middle of the table and said he would take ½. (The twin crystals, also for sale on this website, came from this group.) They called these the Mesa Crystals because they were laid out on the kitchen table.
Only then was Bill shown into the childrens bedroom (with only a bed for furniture). Hidden inside the closet were their prize selections. And this Fantasy Quartz was one of them. (A couple of the other pieces were selling for $30,000.00 apiece. Bill thought the asking price for these a bit high, but that they were easily worth $10,000.00 each.)
How do the local miners know where to dig? One of the women tells them to Just go dig where the light comes out of the ground. But the men cannot see the light coming out of the ground, so they must bring her with them. When she points to a spot and tells them to dig, they do. They dug down about 14 feet and came up with this exquisite piece of Fantasy Quartz, which we are now extremely fortunate to be able to offer to you.
Additional Info (from Bill Adams of Earth Echoes):
The "Pit" that these specimens came out of was about 14 feet deep and it was sandy soil with some clay.
I would say the first part of the creation of the specimens was the existence of a pocket, cave, void, vug, grotto, whatever is the best word. Into this void first came the base minerals in a solution of super-heated water under tremendous pressure deep inside the earth.
I would say the base of the crystal clusters was a mixture of clay along with micro crystals of quartz (whitish), calcite (tan and gray), hematite (rose), and calcite (green). In other words, if one looks carefully at the material inside the quartz crystals with a powerful lens (at least 10X) one can see little clumps and clusters of tiny mineral crystals of the colors I just mentioned.
Sometime later, possibly many millions of years, another solution with only pure silicon dioxide (quartz) in it came into the void and this created the "crystal clear" jumble of pristine quartz crystals we now hold in our hands.
We provide you with pictures that show you the beauty and character of each individual piece. The crystal you select will be the crystal you will receive. Therefore, you can use your own intuition in the choice of your crystal, much as you would if you were actually in our store. This is the next-best thing to holding the stone in your hands.
